Hi Everybody—-
Every week as I work on my songwriting, I stumble across opportunities and news that I can’t really do much with (since I can’t sing to save my life) but that would probably be interesting to my friends who are artists and managers.
So I thought I’d put together a mailing list of all my friends who are artists and managers and share the news with them so these gems won’t go to waste! I’ll email y’all every now and then with any interesting tidbits I’ve found—-mostly related to country music—-and if you find my emails burdensome, just let me know and I’ll take you off the list.
Here’s what I learned this week:
Digital Rodeo. There’s a great website called “Digital Rodeo” (www.digitalrodeo.com) that is like a myspace specifically for country music. It’s entirely free. I don’t see the downside, except that it might become addictive. It also has the nice feature that it tells you who your last six listeners were so you can thank them personally.
Pandora Internet Radio (www.pandora.com) has become all the rage among anybody younger than 20. They pay licensing fees to SoundExchange, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC. You can submit your music to them if you have a CD with a valid UPC barcode. Here’s how: http://blog.pandora.com/faq/#31
Best,
Marc
